The Giant Fuyu Persimmon tree also ripens in November and is non-astringent. The fruit is a dark orange color when ripe and has a delicious smooth texture.
Persimmon literally translates to “Fruit of the Gods” and the Giant Fuyu Persimmon is twice the size of a normal persimmon… so you’ll get even more of the sweet, delicious fruit.
While American Persimmons can be astringent, but this Asian Persimmon is non-astringent, offering a rich sweetness with delightful hints of honey and mango.
And even though the taste is the standout feature, there’s a lot you’re going to enjoy about growing this fruit.
· Ornamental – sweet yellow flowers in June and stunning fall displays of yellow and scarlet.
· Late harvest – fruit appears in October and stays on the tree all the way through January, even after the leaves have fallen off.
· Self-fertile – no need to plant multiple trees, within 2-3 years your single tree will start producing fruit… but plant 2 trees and you’ll get even more from both.
Hardly growing past 12 ft., you’ll find plenty of spaces in your yard where this tree will fit perfectly.
Unlike a lot of fruit trees, you’ll get a harvest of 50+ lbs without a lot of maintenance.
And the longer you let the fruit stay on the tree, the softer and sweeter it gets – want it less sweet and a little more firm, pick it earlier… you decide how soft and sweet you want it!
While many fruit trees are riddled with pest and disease problems, there are no pests or diseases to worry about with this Persimmon tree.
The Fuyu Persimmon is grown all over Asia and can be seen in nearly every orchard.
Popularity is catching on in the states, so don’t miss your chance to grow this tasty, easy-to-grow treat!
