Native Persimmon are easy to grow trees that are hardy in almost all of the United States. They have very few pests and diseases. A very hardy and nice addition to any garden or fruit orchid.

Medium-sized trees with distinctive, dark brown to black bark with rectangular blocks, similar to alligator hide. Male and female flowers appear in May to June on separate trees. October frosts signal the beginning of persimmon season. When ripe, persimmon fruits turn yellowish to pale orange and taste similar to apricots. Prior to ripening, the fruits have an astringent taste.
These are popular in most asian cultures and asian foods. If you are a city dweller or small suburban lot, these make great container or patio trees.
he American Persimmon has earned its reputation as a “deer magnet” among hunters and managers. Individual trees express some variation in when they drop their fruit, but on average, our persimmons will be putting fruit on the ground in September and October.
